Electrical

Short Circuit

Electrical fire are started by applying an electric current to wire to create a short circuit. The increase in current coupled with the resistance of the wire causes it to glow red hot, whic can be used to ignite tinder.

The commonest survival method of lighting a fire using electricity is to apply current from a battery to very fine wire wool - after a short time the wire wool will glow hot.

Sparks

Electricity can sometimes be forced to cross a small gap between two conductive materials if the air inbetween can be ionised. this results in electrical sparks, which can create fire. Good examples of this are static electricity, and of course lightning.
